2.Gastritis

Aruchi (anorexia), Gurukoshthatva (abdominal heaviness), Gaurav (lethargy), Vibandh (constipation), Shiroruja (headache), Utklesh (nausea), and Tiktamlodgar are some of the symptoms of Urdhwaga Amlapitta (acidity). In baidyanath the medicine for amlapita ( acidity) is avipattikar churn, suthsekhar rasa, kamdudha rasa, amlpitantak loha, shank bhasm, akik pisthi, praval pisthi, amalki rasayan etc.

Causes:

In Ayurveda, Chronic Gastritis is known as Urdhvaga Amla Pitta.

Urdhvaga Amla Pitta primarily caused by an increased of Pitta Dosha, which happens due to imbalanced diet like spicy food and excessive consumption of alcohol or tobacco. Aggravated Pitta impairs the body’s jatharagni, leading to improper digestion of food and production of ama. Due to aggravated Pitta, this ama becomes acid in nature. This heating ama gets accumulated in the body and increases the levels of gases and increase acid in the stomach, causes Amlapitta.

Ayurvedic Medicine for Acidity (Amlapitta) involves the reduction of increses energies and the restoration of the digestive fire using pitta nashak herbal preparations and Pitta-pacifying diet. Tomatoes, tomato juice, and other tomato based productsCabbage, broccoli, beans, fried meat and fried eggs Peppermint, chocolates, ice cream, cream, chips,Milk, butter, cream, cheese and other dairy products,Cranberry juice and other citrus juice,Alcohol, coffee and other caffeine-containing foods,Milkshakes, oils, vegetable oils,sour, spicy, acidic foods and white flour products. Stress, anger and exposure to heat also lead to the aggravation of this condition.

Ayurvedic Medicine for Fever, Diet & Lifestyle:
  • Patient suffering from gastritis should fast for 3-4 days. They may be given warm water during these days. The main idea behind keeping them from abstaining from food is that the inflammation in the stomach will decrease as the toxic material inside the stomach diminishes.
  • Patients suffering from Gastritis should fast for one or two days.
  • Patient can also be given juicy fruits which act as ayurvedic medicine for acidity like grapes, apples,
    oranges, watermelons, etc., 2-3 times a day. The patient should survive on these juicy fruits only, at least for 2-3 days. This fruit-diet gives fast relief and detoxifies the stomach.
  • Avoid processed and fermented foods.
