Hair loss and Premature graying

A certain amount of (100 hairs from your scalp every day) loss is considered normal as old strands are replaced by new when hair loss is excessive then care must be done. Similarly the graying of hair after a certain age is a normal phenomenon but when this starts in the early years of life then also cared. According to Ayurveda hair is a byproduct of bone formation and the tissue of building bones are also responsible for the growth of hair.

Hair loss is known as Khalitya in Ayurveda

Causes:

Intake of large amount of fried, sour, spicy, salty, ferment food, tea and coffee these things increases the Pitta Dosha in the body.This Pitta accumulates in the skin of the scalp leading to hair falling out and graying prematurely. Hair loss can be caused by a number of things including dry skin; sensitivity to hair products like certain fabrics, soaps, shampooscertain types of food like spicy sour and oily food, environmental allergens such as dust, cobwebs, sunlight,and skin disorder such as psoriasis, seborrhea dermatitis or eczema and other diseases like hypothyroidism, excessive cosmetic hair treatments such as hair conditioning and hair coloring, hair bonding.

Ayurvedic Medicine for Fever, Diet & Lifestyle:
  • Avoid Pitta-aggravating foods like spicy, heavy, and oily foods, refined foods, refined sugar, junk food, alcoholic and carbonated drinks, tea and coffee.
  • Increase intake of fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables and vegetable juice prepared from lettuce, carrot and wheat grass.

Home Remedy:

Ayurvedic treatment of hair loss is aimed at pacification of Pitta by a balanced diet and lifestyle regime along with medication. A combination of diet, herbs, oil massage, meditation, aromatherapy, breathing and yoga can be beneficial in problem of hair loss and premature graying of hair.

Mix powdered Indian gooseberry (amla),bhrigraj ,seed of mango mulethi churn  and sesame seeds in equal amounts then taken  1 teaspoon twice a day with water for 1 month.
