Kidney Stones And Their Management

Kidney Stones And Their Management

Your urinary tract is made up of your kidneys, two bean-shaped organs about the size of your fist; two narrow muscular tubes called ureters, which drain urine from each kidney into the bladder; the bladder, which temporarily stores urine; and the urethra, the tube that empties urine from the bladder.

The kidneys make urine by removing extra water and waste from your blood. They also help your body balance certain chemicals in your blood.

What are kidney stones and how they made?

Some people are more likely to get them because of their family history, but in most cases they are caused because of excessive salts present in urine. Salt can build up in kidneys when there is urine output is less or levels of salts will increase (calcium oxalate, uric acid and Oxalate). When salts build up to a certain point they start accumulating and form crystals.

When crystals go larger and become stone, they will stuck and block the flow of urine. This cause infection and pain.

Following are the risk factors of Kidney stones:

  1. Gastrointestinal disease
  2. Kidney disease
  3. Urinary tract infection
  4. Metabolic disorders
  5. Family history

Prevention is better than cure, so drink 5-6 liters of water in day so the output of salts from urine will be maintained. If you have small size of stones then they also can be eliminated thru urine. So increase water intake.

There are few herbs in Ayurveda that can help to treat Kidney stones.

Baidyanth is a century old organization and know people’s requirements. Following are some medications for Kidney stones from Baidyanath:

  3. Punarnavadi Kwath: 3-6 Teaspoonful after meals with equal amount of water.
